Caring for your skin

One of the biggest differences between the way men and women look at themselves is in the area of skincare. It used to be that women would be the ones reaching for the skin cream where the men used to ‘tough it out.’

Thankfully, over the last few years, and with the increase in knowledge about the damage that has been done to the ozone layer that has begun to change.

Now, Beauty and skincareis everyone’s concern as we learn more about the idea that looking after our skin does not just make us look well, but can actually prolong our lives.

Skin cancer (or melanoma) is one of the most common forms of cancer with over 67,000 cases diagnosed every year in just Australasia alone! Rates in the US and Europe are not quite as high but are regarded as a serious problem. It is caused by a combination of genetic issues (light skin) and overexposure to ultra violet light from our sun. The best (and only form of preventative medicine) is a sun block cream that is classified as a skincare product.

Another common problem is Acne. Surprisingly it does not just affect teenagers but can carry on into adult life. It can cause immense damage to facial tissue and result in permanent scarring with devastating physical and psychological effects. There is a cure with the right form of treatment. Many of the skin care products prevent it from ever getting to the problem stage.

Beauty and skincare products do not just cover the essentials for the health of our skin; they also cover the cosmetics that can actually make us look and feel younger. We should not downplay their effects here. The best way walk into a room to negotiate a deal is when you feel great about the way you look, and know that you put across the image that you want to portray. When you feel and look like a million dollars then the chances are you will walk away with the million-dollar deal!
