Are you sporting a jungle on your upper lip? More fur on your back than your cousin Jenny’s St Bernard-Lab cross? Tired of shaving over and over again, only to have to shave a day later? Or perhaps you just want smooth, sleek, hair-free skin.
You don’t have to go through life plagued by excess hair (unless you enjoy your status as a half-man half-wolf hybrid, we don’t judge!)
If you find yourself in the market for laser hair removal in Chicago, or anywhere for that matter, here are a few Do’s and Don’ts that you might want to keep in mind when searching for a reputable med spa to carry out the procedure.
DO – take the time to research the medical spas in your area. You will want to make sure that you are scheduling an appointment with a facility that has your best interest in mind. One where you not only feel comfortable, but also one where the physicians and staff are well-trained, licensed, certified and experienced in laser hair removal procedures. This might seem like a tedious task, however, it might mean the difference between smooth, hair-free skin and painful, pus-filled scars.
DON’T – select a spa simply because they offer the lowest price. Prices that are clearly well below market rates typically mean that the quality of service will suffer. Don’t take risks with your body simply because you might be saving a few bucks. You’ll end up paying more in the long run.
DO – ensure that the facility you choose is committed to the procedures offered. You’d never go to a proctologist for a dental exam, so don’t go to a chiropractor for laser hair removal.
DON’T – be afraid to leave the med spa immediately if something doesn’t feel right. You gut instincts are almost never wrong. If you don’t feel like you are being treated properly, or that the tools used aren’t sterilized, or if anything else seems amiss, find another provider.
DO – verify that all invasive procedures or medical procedures are performed only by trained and licensed medical staff. Different states have different laws regarding procedures like deep chemical peels and laser hair removal; it is your responsibility to verify the regulations in your state. In any case, if the secretary or janitorial staff is giving Botox injections – it’s likely a red flag.
